1973

Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services, Inc. is a private, non-profit agency that was founded in June 1973, and its first governing body was the Alcoholism Council of Luzerne County. The original name of the agency was the Wilkes-Barre Center on Alcohol Abuse and it was located at the Wilkes-Barre General Nursing Home from June 1973 to March 1974, which is now the site of the hospital parkade.

1974

In March 1974, our agency moved to the west side of the river to the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital Medical Arts Building. The geographic move necessitated a change in the agency name and we now became the Wyoming Valley Center on Alcohol Abuse. In June 1974, we became incorporated under our present name of Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services, Inc.

1977

In July 1977, we moved to 601 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston and remained there until May of 1980, at which time, we relocated to 383 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, and remained there until December 1994.

1994

December 1994 marks a milestone in our agency’s storied and spirited growth, for this is the date we moved to our current home at 437 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.

2017

In 2017 we opened our satellite office in Kingston. In addition, out Pittston office remains open as well for those who need our services. We continue to expand, always looking to help those with various disorders.
